For centuries Jews have
been scattered throughout the world.
Wherever settled, be it in
villages or cities, we have built synagogues. Each congregation
developed its own special melodies, often influenced by local
musical traditions. Often Chassidic melodies are borrowed from
Ukraine shepherds' songs, while the Shabbat tunes of Afghanistan
have taken on the special modes typical of that region.
O rit Perlman has gathered gems from the
wealth of Jewish musical tradition and added few melodies of her
own, to create an unforgettable Jewish world-music experience.
This colorful performance includes musical explanations, traditional
stories, and teachings of melodies. Each performance relates to the
current Jewish calendar - special performances focusing on Shabbat,
High Holidays, Chanuka, Purim etc., are offered; length and contents
are suited to the specific needs of each and every audience.
